Edgar Sorrells-Adewale

Painter, printmaker, sculptor, and mixed-media artist Edgar Sorrells-Adewale is a native of Philadelphia, PA, and Silver Spring, MD. He and his wife, Raine, a basket weaver, live in Santa Fe, NM.

Sorrells-Adewale has exhibited in solo, two person, and group formats. His work was featured in About Time, 2012, at Salve Regina Gallery, Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, and Full Spectrum: Prints from The Brandywine Workshop, 2012, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

His BS in art education from Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, and MFA from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, have led to decades of teaching in the art departments of Cheyney State College (now university), PA; Howard University, Washington, DC; and Santa Fe Community College, NM.

Sorrells-Adewale has had residencies at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sweetbriar, VA; Vermont Studio Center, Johnson; Pyramid Atlantic, Riverdale, MD; Howard County Arts Council, Ellicott City, MD; and The Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, Monterrey, Mexico.
