Pennsylvania-based artist and professor Evan Summer earned his BS in chemistry from the State University of New York College, Cortland; a BFA from the State University of New York, Buffalo; and an MFA in printmaking from Yale University School of Art, New Haven, CT. He previously taught fine art at Kutztown University, PA. He is currently a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
Summer exhibits his art internationally at institutions including Zai Gallery in Shenzhen, China; Guanlan Original Printmaking Base, China; Monroe Gallery and Corcoran School of the Arts & Design, Washington, DC; National Academy of Design, New York City; Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan; Bulgarian Exhibition of American Printmakers, Sofia, Bulgaria; Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Japan; Hongik University, Seoul, Korea; Jerusalem Print Workshop, Israel; Norwegian International Print Triennale, Fredrikstad, Norway; and The Print Center, Philadelphia.
His works are in the collections of institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Brooklyn Museum, New York City; National Gallery of Art and Library of Congress, Washington, DC; Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts of the California Legion of Honor, San Francisco; Philadelphia Museum of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Taipei Fine Arts Museum; and China Printmaking Museum, Guanlan.
Summer has won awards such as a Zelda and Josef Jaffe Purchase Award; Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis Purchase Award; and an Educational Testing Service Purchase Award.
