Luis Flores

Luis Flores was born in New York City. He earned an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, and studied at Millersville University, Pennsylvania, and the University of Puerto Rico, San Juan. His mixed-media work and installations have been presented in alternative spaces and museums throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including the Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art, The Alternative Museum, and Studio Museum in Harlem, New York City; University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; and Maryland Art Place, Baltimore.

Flores has received fellowships from the Printmaking Workshop, New York City, and the Maryland Art Place. He has lived and worked in Baltimore since 1978. Afro-Caribbean percussion, jewelry, and architectural ruins are among the diverse influences that inform much of his work. His studio practice has also focused on merging sculptural forms and printmaking.
