Marilyn Holsing

Marilyn Holsing was born in Canton, OH. She earned a BFA in painting, drawing, and graphics from Ohio State University, Columbus, and an MA in drawing from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Holsing’s work has been exhibited at The Delaware Contemporary, Wilmington, DE; Towson University, MD; Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia Art Alliance, C. R. Ettinger Studio Gallery, and Gallery Joe, Philadelphia; Melanee Cooper Gallery, Chicago; Rosemont College, PA; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge; Hudson River Museum, Yonkers, NY; Robert Brown Gallery and Chris Neptune Gallery, Washington, DC; Abington Art Center, Jenkintown, PA; Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro; and Allentown Art Museum, PA, among other institutions.

Her work is in the collections of institutions including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Woodmere Art Museum, Brandywine Workshop and Archives, Fidelity Investments, and Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll, Philadelphia; State University of New York, Potsdam; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City; University of New Mexico, Albuquerque; Arcadia University, Glenside, PA; Appalachian State University, Boone, NC; and Rutgers University, Camden, NJ.

Holsing received fellowships from Independence Foundation, Philadelphia; Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Harrisburg; and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Baltimore. She is professor emeritus in painting at Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, Philadelphia.
