Michael Lasuchin

Born in Kramatorsk in the former Soviet Union (now Russia), Michael Lasuchin studied art at the Rostov College of Arts, Rostov-on-Don, Russia, before moving to the United States, where he earned a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) and an MFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, Philadelphia.

Lasuchin's work has been exhibited in more than 100 institutions and events, including the Bienal International de Obra Gráfica y Arte Seriado, Segovia, Spain; Contemporary American Graphics, Venice, Italy; 21st National Print Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum; Espacio de Arte Contemporaneo, Montevideo, Uruguay; Biennale Internazionale per l’Incisione, Biella, Italy; 9th Norwegian International Print Triennial, Fredrikstad; Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia; and The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg.

His work is in more than 80 public collections including the Brooklyn Museum; Cabo Frio Museum, Brazil; Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki, Greece; Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii; Museum of Contemporary Graphic Art, Fredrikstad, Norway; Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, Sweden; National Academy Museum & School, New York City; Philadelphia Museum of Art; The State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, Russia; and Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Lasuchin won more than 140 awards and prizes from organizations including the National Watercolor Society; Painters and Sculptors Society of New Jersey (now Society of New Jersey Artists); Philadelphia Water Color Society; American Color Print Society; The Boston Printmakers; Society of American Graphic Artists; Library of Congress; and Honolulu Museum of Art.
