Shirley Woodson

Shirley Woodson is a painter, printmaker, and art educator born in Pulaski, TN. She earned a BFA and MA from Wayne State University, Detroit. Her work is in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts; Studio Museum in Harlem, New York City; and the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, Boston, among others.

Woodson spent several decades teaching in the Detroit school system and serving as the supervisor for Detroit’s Art Education Program. She was an active supporter of the Detroit chapter of the Association of African American Artists.
