Vincent Smith

Vincent Smith was a painter and printmaker born in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and later at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. He earned his BA from the State University of New York in Saratoga. Smith had more than twenty-five one-man exhibitions and participated in more than thirty group exhibitions since the early 1970s and was among the prominent members of the Black Arts movement in New York City in the 1960s and 70s and the Bob Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in Lower Manhattan.
