Alison Saar is a printmaker, sculptor, and mixed media artist born in Los Angeles, California. She earned a dual degree in Art History and Studio Art from Scripps College in Claremont, California, and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Her works can be found in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), Harvard Art Museums in Massachusetts, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC; the High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia; and the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, among others. Saar lives and works in Los Angeles. PAFA’s collection features several of her works including Nude Woman with Flowing Red (2000) and Briarpatch Blues (2014).
