Lucy Hodgson

A sculptor and printmaker, Lucy Hodgson was born in Damariscotta, Maine, and grew up in New England. She received a BA in liberal studies from Oberlin College, OH, and an MA in anthropology from New York University, New York City.

Hodgson's work is inspired by natural forces and organic forms. Some of her most praised work includes Standing Remains (1992) at the South County Center for the Arts, West Kingston, RI, and Rhyming the River (2006) at the Tamarack Gallery, Northport, MI. Her work is in public and corporate collections including the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, NY; Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris; New York University; Library of Congress, Washington, DC; Heublein Wines, Hartfotrd, CT; International Harvester, Warrenville, IL; Atlantic Richfield Company, La Palma, CA; and Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City.

Hodgson was an instructor in printmaking and drawing at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA, and at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, New York City. She has been a member of SOHO20, Brooklyn, NY, for much of her career. She has been awarded residencies in Hungary and South Korea; a fellowship at MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, NH; and received funding from The Netherland-American Foundation.
