Olitski was an artist thrilled by actions with unpredictable outcomes, by the tension of not knowing just what would happen as a consequence of the movements of his hand. Delicately particulate pinks, yellows, mauves, blues, greens, purples, and oranges engage in a whispery tête-à-tête. Generous, unpremeditated brush strokes and melting expanses of color characterize Olitski's prints from then on.
