From the Artist
The print is a reflection on the effect of travel and the state that it sometimes leaves me when I return from a long trip. [It] was done at the end of a long stay in Southern Spain with my fiancée on the coast.
I usually take trips like this to do work and to remove myself from the grind of the city and the every day. Upon my return I decided to buy a house, marry this woman (who became my fiancée), become a landlord, move my studio, and create even more change in my life. This print is an accumulation of all of this change rolled into two dimensions.
I collect accordion postcards—antique, contemporary, etc. And the images on the print reflect some images from Spain but also other images from places I've been, some I haven't been, some I hope to go to or just dream about.
The print is a reflection of what it feels like to be in between states, while so much is spinning and whirling around us in memory, in present, past, [and] future. It is pretty much where I'm at now.
