From the Artist
My concerns are with large forms and how they relate to the space in which they exist. These images are built up of many layers of marks, within a black form. These forms begin to challenge our concepts of positive and negative space. The energies of these marks become very important to the space and your perception of the space. I feel that by using black, I have removed all distractions.
So many times, we tend to ignore the possibilities of black ink for a more seductive palette. I would like the opportunity to explore black as being equally seductive and equally colorful.
