New York-based artist Helen Oji was born in Sacramento, California. She earned a BA and MA in Art from California State University in Sacramento. She has exhibited her paintings, works on paper and prints in numerous national and international exhibitions in New York and in Europe including at the AIR Gallery in New York, the Asian Art Institute in New York, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, Laguna Beach Museum of Art in California, Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum in Aalborg, Denmark. Her work is in notable public collections including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, The New Museum, Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, Jacksonville Art Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Princeton University Art Museum, High Museum of Art, Barnard College Library, and in various corporate and private collections. Oji received an Ariana Foundation for the Arts, Inc. Mixed Media Grant, an Artists Space Materials Grant, and had a Visiting Artist Fellowship at Brandywine Workshop and Archives. She served as an Adjunct Art Professor for Yuba College in Marysville, California, and for the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She also worked for Eileen Fisher as a Design Director, Designer, Creative, Inspiration, & Research Director in New York City. She lives and works in New York City.
