Sedrick Huckaby is a painter born in Fort Worth, Texas. He studied art at Texas Wesleyan University, received a BFA from Boston University in 1997, and an MFA from Yale University in Connecticut in 1999. Huckaby is known for his textured paintings through the use of thick, impasto paint, creating murals that evoke a textile quality. His work has been exhibited at several institutions including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Minneapolis Institute of Art in Minnesota, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. Huckaby is currently an assistant professor of painting in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Arlington since 2009. He is married to fine arts photographer Letitia Huckaby.
